What we do

At Bird, we're solving a problem that is a pain for many, costs the industry billions and something we've probably all experienced at some point - software bugs.

We're seeing more digital applications being built than ever, which means more software bugs. While the way software are built have advanced leaps and bounds, the way we fix bugs, haven't.

Bird combines screen recording with automatically captured technical logs to allow even non-technical people to create proper data-rich bug reports - make it much easier and faster to fix bugs. Our vision is to help companies build products that work perfectly, taking care of quality so that companies can focus on building better features.

What you'll do

You will be joining as our first design hire, and therefore play a crucial role in shaping the future of Bird. You'll have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of design spanning research to product to marketing and branding. We believe in a hybrid specialist/cross-disciplinary approach to working, which means we play to your own areas of expertise and strengths, while also expect you to work on a broad range of tasks.

  • Designing new features from start to end: R&D, user testing, wireframing, prototyping, detailed design, spec designs for engineering handover, sign-off production release.
  • Improve existing product: address UX/UI bugs, UX improvements based on user feedback, polishing the UI.
  • Design system maintenance: we routinely maintain our design system and components to keep assets up to date and leverage the latest features from figma.
  • User testing and interviews: plan and run user research and UX testing interviews.
  • Frontend development: we have a cross-disciplinary approach to design, development and marketing. So for detailed UI fixes in the product, our designers would jump into the code and refine these directly to elminate back-and-forth with engineers.
  • Brand, website and marketing: As with development, designers at Bird also work closely with the marketing team to maintain brand consistency, develop visual assets and sign-off web designs for the homepage.

What we're looking for

  • An exceptional designer able to tackle complex and technical design problems. Many of the problems that Bird aims to solve are not trivial from a design perspective. The value proposition itself is highly technical by nature and the space is largely unchartered so we often need to come up with completely new and creative solutions.
  • A good understanding of code. You don't need to be an expert developer, but you need understand how development works and have at least a basic level of frontend coding ability.
  • In particular, we are looking for someone with strong UI skills, and will place extra weight on this criteria when assessing your application.
  • An eye for quality. We want to lead with great design.
  • Proficient in Figma.
